Habitat for Humanity Honduras held a workshop on strengthening, coordination, and planning around social housing this Thursday, March 20, with the participation of representatives from the 20 municipalities of the Sula Valley, as well as civil society, academia, and the central government.<\/p>\n

The workshop’s main purpose was to promote comprehensive policies and strategies that contribute to improving living conditions in irregular settlements, addressing housing challenges from a collaborative perspective.<\/p>\n

During the day, topics such as access to financing for social housing, land regularization, and the need to strengthen the legal and institutional framework for housing were discussed.<\/p>\n

“Access to adequate housing is a fundamental right and a pillar for the development of our communities. With this workshop, we seek to coordinate efforts to guarantee sustainable and accessible housing solutions for Honduran families,” said Grevil Paz, representative of Habitat for Humanity Honduras.<\/p>\n

This workspace represented the consolidation of multiple efforts promoted by Habitat for Humanity Honduras through its “Home Equals” program. Additionally, a social housing network was established in the Sula Valley, which will monitor municipal policies implemented in 20 municipalities in the departments of Cort\u00e9s, Yoro, Santa B\u00e1rbara, and Atl\u00e1ntida. This committee will strengthen coordination between local authorities and organizations in the sector, ensuring more effective and sustained long-term planning.<\/p>\n
