88 families in Comayagüela benefit from new sanitary modules

Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

A total of 88 families from the Nueva Capital and Santa Clara neighborhoods in Comayagüela will have new sanitation modules, thanks to the project that Habitat for Humanity Honduras is developing in conjunction with the Municipal Mayor’s Office of the Central District (AMDC) and the Latin American, African and Asian Popular Housing Service (SELAVIP).

The project investment is 10.5 million lempiras and will serve to dignify the homes of families by providing access to water and sanitation services, which are essential to preserve the health of their homes.

The objective is to provide homes with basic sanitation services, which will consequently improve the health conditions of families, since the installation of these plumbing systems is essential for their well-being.

In this sense, a sanitary module is built in the houses, which includes a basin to store drinking water, a toilet, a shower, a biodigester, an absorption well for black and gray water, and a register box to maintain the system.

This type of system ensures that water use is 100% clean and safe, as well as helping to ensure that human waste is properly treated.

Doña Alejandrina Valle, a resident of the Santa Clara neighborhood, is one of the beneficiaries and thanked the effort and willingness of those who made it possible to improve the conditions of her home. “They have helped us a lot. We didn’t have a decent toilet and now they are helping us,” she said.
