We signed an agreement with Geotérmica Platanares to build housing for vulnerable families in the western part of the country

Santa Rosa de Copán. Habitat for Humanity Honduras signed a cooperation agreement with the company Geothermal Platanares, to support families in vulnerable situations in the west of the country through the construction or improvement of their homes. The agreement, which will be valid for five months, includes the construction of three subsidized homes in its initial phase.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Martha Guillén, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Honduras, and Josué Arita Pineda, legal representative of Geotérmica Platanares. This joint effort seeks to offer a housing solution and strengthen the human capacities of the beneficiary families, promoting their integral development and access to decent living conditions, including safe water.

As part of the agreement, Habitat Honduras will lead the implementation of the project, providing technical and administrative supervision, as well as the preparation of follow-up and closure reports. Geotérmica Platanares, as part of its corporate social responsibility, will provide financial resources for materials and labor, and will provide logistical support for the development of the project.

In addition, the company has joined Habitat Honduras’ national strategy to replace dirt floors with concrete floors, a key action to improve the health and safety of the most vulnerable families. This alliance demonstrates how the private sector can be a key player in improving housing conditions in the country.

The agreement also opens the door for other companies to join Habitat Honduras’ initiatives in different communities, whether in the areas of housing, water and sanitation, community infrastructure or disaster response. Investing in housing is investing in dignity, health and the future.
