Women Build arrives in Tegucigalpa to support children with kidney failure

Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Habitat for Humanity Honduras, in conjunction with the Honduran Foundation for Children with Renal Insufficiency (FUNHNIR), officially launched in Tegucigalpa the project “Women Build, women transforming lives”, which aims to provide hope to children with kidney failure, so they can receive their dialysis treatment in a safe environment, adapting their homes with the best hygienic conditions for the care of their health.

The Women Build project is integrated by women volunteers and promotes among them solidarity as a transforming potential for the most vulnerable families, in this case the children suffering from this disease, who require a house with a sterile space, with good ventilation and lighting, drinking water, electricity and a bathroom to perform their peritoneal dialysis and then have a speedy recovery from the kidney transplant process.

The launching took place in the meeting room of the pre-admission building of Hospital Maria, and was attended by the highest authorities of this healthcare center, as well as Habitat Honduras, which through a fundraising campaign designed and implemented on its web page, will undertake the corresponding actions for the improvement of the houses where the children will receive their treatment.

This is part of the agreement signed last March, where both organizations undertook to work together to ensure that the children’s families meet the requirements to qualify for the benefit, which also includes the peaceful possession of their homes, ensuring that they are not located in high-risk areas, thus guaranteeing that the dialysis of the children takes place in a suitable environment.
