A new beginning: We delivered homes to five families in Gracias, Lempira

Gracias, Lempira.

This Saturday, March 29, Habitat for Humanity Honduras handed over ownership of five homes to their respective families in the second phase of the Valle Escondido housing complex, located in the Bella Vista sector of Gracias, Lempira. This represented another step in the organization’s commitment to providing adequate and safe housing solutions for Honduran families.

Each home has 45 square meters of construction and two bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, a kitchen, and a dining room, providing a safe and adequate space for the beneficiary families. Furthermore, this housing complex has access to essential basic services, such as sanitary sewage, drinking water, and electricity, ensuring better living conditions for the families.

According to reports from Habitat for Humanity Honduras, the housing shortage in the country amounts to 61.9%, meaning that more than half of Honduran families face difficulties accessing adequate housing. Actions such as this dedication and delivery of homes in Gracias, Lempira, represent an important step toward reducing this problem and providing sustainable housing solutions.

The success of this project has been possible thanks to the joint efforts of volunteers, the local government, and various partner organizations, who played a key role in identifying the land, managing resources, and selecting the beneficiary families. Their commitment and dedication have been instrumental in making these five families’ dream of owning their own homes a reality.

With this project, Habitat for Humanity Honduras reaffirms its commitment to continue working to ensure that more families in the country have access to adequate housing, thus promoting the well-being and development of communities.
