United for a decent home: Sealed partnership with Rotary Club San Pedro Sula

San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

Habitat for Humanity Honduras and the Rotary Club San Pedro Sula signed a cooperation agreement with the objective of establishing coordination and resource management mechanisms to improve the living conditions of families living in poverty.

Through this agreement, both organizations committed to work on housing construction and improvement projects, climate change adaptation, provision of basic services such as electricity, water and sanitation, and disaster response, through initiatives such as “Shelter Box”, among others.

The agreement was signed in San Pedro Sula by Martha Guillén Robleda and José Enrique Franco, executive director and president of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Honduras, respectively, along with Óscar Gerardo Bográn Moncada and Román Darío Rivera Bu, president and president-elect of the San Pedro Sula Rotary Club.

The agreement was signed in San Pedro Sula by Martha Guillén Robleda and José Enrique Franco, executive director and president of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity Honduras, respectively, along with Óscar Gerardo Bográn Moncada and Román Darío Rivera Bu, president and president-elect of the San Pedro Sula Rotary Club.

As part of the agreement, both Habitat and the Rotary Club committed to identify opportunities for joint management and develop proposals for development projects, including the “100,000 Floors to Play On” project, which seeks to replace dirt floors with concrete floors in the homes of poor families. It will also promote awareness of the housing sector in Honduras.

The San Pedro Sula Rotary Club will contribute by providing equipment to drill wells for concerted water projects and will support the equipment of small parks and sports facilities, in addition to donating household cleaning materials to strengthen community development and improve the living conditions of those most in need.

The agreement will have a duration of 28 months, effective as of the signing of the agreement, which will end on June 30, 2027.
