We join forces with USAP for education and housing

San Pedro Sula.

In an effort to strengthen sustainable development, Habitat for Humanity Honduras and the University of San Pedro Sula (USAP) signed a cooperation agreement to manage resources and develop joint initiatives in communities prioritized by both institutions.

This agreement will allow for the integration of technical and logistical efforts aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with an emphasis on poverty eradication, health and well-being, gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, access to clean water and sanitation, reducing inequalities, and building sustainable communities.

Through this agreement, Habitat for Humanity Honduras and USAP will develop joint strategies focused on developing life skills, strengthening capacities, and generating opportunities that contribute to the well-being of the beneficiary populations. They will also promote academic and scientific collaboration, fostering specialized volunteering, and transferring knowledge within a framework of social responsibility and innovation.

The signing of the agreement took place at the USAP facilities and was attended by representatives from both institutions, including Senén Villanueva, USAP’s statutory rector, and Martha Guillén, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Honduras.

During the event, Martha Guillén highlighted the importance of inter-institutional collaboration to generate a positive impact on communities: “This agreement allows us to join forces with academia to promote sustainable solutions that transform the quality of life of many Honduran families. Education and access to adequate housing are fundamental pillars for the country’s development.”

This agreement marks a significant step in the consolidation of strategic alliances that drive social transformation and sustainable development in Honduras. With this collaboration, both institutions reaffirm their commitment to building an equitable and resilient future for the most vulnerable communities in Honduras.
